The Loan Consultant will work in partnership with peers in the loan application process to successfully package, approve, and fund, micro and small business loans.  Peers include: Business Development Officers, Underwriters, Closing Officers and Accounting.  The Loan Consultant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the file, analysis of financial and business records, and ensuring that all fundamental file parameters are met in accordance with LiftFund’s underwriting and credit guidelines.
This team member plays a key role in ensuring that sales, production and quality metrics are met, and they must be driven by LiftFund’s social mission to provide credit and service to small businesses that do not have access to credit from commercial sources.

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of experience in financial analysis
  • 2 years of experience in a CRM or similar platform and phone platform.
  • 2 years of experience using computer applications as the core of executing daily work and objectives.  Plus, the ability to learn other computer applications.
  • Experience in environments that are adaptable, flexible, and high performing.
  • Experience working independently with high initiative and ownership over your work processes and results
  • Results working well under pressure, has managed multiple priorities, and is stubbornly optimistic.
  • Accustomed to analyzing and problem solving; performing well in high-profile work with accuracy and detail.
  • Proven team player, expects and provides a collaborative and healthy work environment.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Successful experience in a customer service orientated environment and can display excellent customer service skills and behaviors.


  • Work and maintain a sales pipeline according to priority and without neglecting customer needs and commitments.
  • Perform analysis of incoming applications to reduce rework and ensure data integrity.
  • Package the application with required documents based on LiftFund’s credit policy and timeline standards.
  • Build a relationship with process partners across the organization such as underwriting and closing within the lending workflow.
  • Communicate in a professional manner and with responsive tools in person, via phone, email and text.
  • Conduct loan closing processes and activities.
  • Implement strategies that align with LiftFund’s packaging time and quality requirements relative to improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Report to supervisor about production and processing time, as well as status of closing files in the pipeline.
  • Communicate with Business Development Officer about production and processing time, as well as status of closing files in the pipeline.
  • Ensure the data security and privacy of applicants and borrowers.
  • Support Delinquency and Business Education activities to ensure client success as assigned.
  • Commit to one-call resolution. 
  • Manage telephone call pipeline in a timely and professional manner to ensure resolution policy.


  • Highly organized
  • Excellent communicator (verbally, written, emails, nonverbal)
  • Technical experience with Microsoft Suite, Office systems, etc.
  • Detail oriented without losing site of the big picture
  • Advanced interpersonal skills; seeks to understand before being understood
  • Able to learn or understands Legal terminology and documentation
  • Multi-Tasking guru; but able to prioritize what is most important to meet deadlines or expectations
  • Adaptable and flexible to the situation at hand without losing professional manner
  • Applies critical thinking and does not need to be told exactly what to do
  • Team player; able to get along with others, chip in, and support the mission and vision of LiftFund

PREFERRED Skills and Experiences

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with government funded loan programs such as SBA, EDA, Community Development Block Grants, or others.
  • Experience in packaging, lending, closing, and/or file analysis
  • Bilingual abilities in English & Spanish
  • Experience in administrative/office support
