As the Small Business Grant Specialist, you will be a key member of the Small Business Grant Review Team. The Small Business Grants Specialist will work in partnership with the Grants Manager to successfully source, package, approve, fund, and service small business grant programs. The Specialist is responsible for 1. Assessing application completion 2. Following LiftFund procedures for completing packaging 3. Interact with the applicant to ensure completion of application 4. Finalize application and provide recommendation of small business grant award.
The Specialist will ensure the file meets LiftFund’s internal guidelines. The Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that production, quality, timeliness metrics are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as initial point of contact for the applicant
  • Assist prospective small business grant applicants with completing the application process.
  • Perform analysis of applications to understand the likelihood of grant application meeting the eligibility criteria.
  • Document the grant process from origination to approval through LiftFund’s CRM platform
  • Prepare the list of required documents that will be necessary to complete the file based on LiftFund templates, including bank statements, employee records, and tax returns and perform a detailed review of all documents
  • Clarify data that may have an impact on the applicant’s ability to move forward.
  • Maintain a consistent follow up routine for files that are still pending documents.  
  • Submit files for finalization with recommendation for grant amount and approval or denial
  • Act as liaison between applicant, closing, and accounting.
  • Manage telephone and email volume in a timely and professional manner for this project.
  • Use effective communication skills in person, via phone, email and text internally and externally to ensure the timely completion and submission of the application.
  • Ensure the privacy of applicants and borrowers.
  • Support client inquiries for business support. 
To Qualify for the Role You Must Have
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience in an office setting.
  • Ability to use and learn computer applications
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform work with accuracy and high attention to detail
  • Willing to engage in and support a collaborative and healthy work environment
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks in a high paced, deadline and goal focused environment
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

It Would Be Great If You Had
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree
  • Previous packaging experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Experience in packaging, lending, or file analysis
  • Experience in administrative/office support
