RESPONSIVE TO:        Advancement Team, CEO/President, Board Members, Donors, and Staff


The primary role of the Director of Donor Relationships & Experiences is to grow and strengthen the philanthropy efforts of LiftFund by building a comprehensive annual fundraising program and developing strategies for building and strengthening relationships with donors. This 40-hour per week position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and will work closely with other team members, board members, and volunteers. A critical component of this position will be to create and sustain a diversified annual fundraising program that includes special events, donor acquisition, annual appeals, crowdfunding and other campaigns; and stewardship and cultivation activities.  In addition, she/he will support the Dream Makers Fund by cultivating, stewarding and soliciting gifts for the fund and will provide oversight for how LiftFund uses its donor database to create a comprehensive annual fundraising program focused on the donor.


  • Manage all fundraising events for LiftFund’s San Antonio region including, but not limited to, 25th anniversary events throughout 2018, 2-3 annual house parties, lunches with the President/CEO, donor receptions, and site tours.
  • Manage all aspects of LiftFund’s annual giving program in coordination with advancement team (i.e. annual appeal, Big Give, and segmented appeals throughout the year).
  • Drive the creation of a clearly articulated Case for Support that promotes and sustains a culture of philanthropy unique to LiftFund.
  • Work closely with other advancement team members to ensure consistency in development strategies and activities across LiftFund’s geographic footprint.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the philanthropic community, donors, sponsors, corporations, foundations, banking partners, board members, and clients.
  • Develop strategies for new and existing donors to effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of giving (donor engagement calendar) for the entire organization.
  • Support, cultivate and solicit a portfolio of donors for the Dream Makers Fund.
  • Support and manage the Young Professionals program and provide consistent support to other advancement team members in growing this network across LiftFund’s regions.
  • Work collaboratively with the entire advancement team to introduce philanthropy to the LiftFund community.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, and individual giving strategies with a proven track record;
  • A four-year college degree;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement an annual fundraising program;
  • Proven success in meeting fundraising goals;
  • Extensive knowledge of relationship management and donor engagement strategies;
  • Extraordinary communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to advocate for LiftFund;
  • Strategic thinking and creative approaches to problem-solving, linked to practical and effective implementation;
  • Personality and disposition that are characterized by collaboration, collegiality, deliberation, openness, and a strong sense of humor.
